MPA Chief Steward Special Election Announcement

As a result of the current MPA Chief Steward vacancy, a Special Election will be held to fill the vacancy. If you wish to nominate a Union member, the nomination must be submitted by Thursday, April 14 at 5:00 pm, and it must be delivered to DC Police Union Secretary Jimmy White at 1524 Pennsylvania Ave SE. ANNOUNCEMENT

As a result of the current MPA Chief Steward vacancy, a Special Election will be held to fill the vacancy.

Pursuant to Article 5.9 of the FOP/MPD By-Laws, within 30 days a Special Election shall be held to elect a replacement to serve out the remainder of the 2016-2018 term. The 2016-2018 term ends March 31, 2018.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Nominations for individuals seeking to complete the 2016-2018 term for this position shall be open for five (5) business days from Friday, April 8, 2016 until Thursday, April 14, 2016. Nominations shall be in writing and must include a signed statement from the nominee indicating that they accept the nomination and specify what position they wish to hold. All written nominations and acceptances must be hand delivered to the DC Police Union Secretary, Jimmy White, at 1524 Pennsylvania Ave, SE prior to 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 14, 2016.

If there is more than one nominee, for the Chief Steward position, a Special Election will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016, from 0600-1600hrs.

ELIGIBILITY

Any member assigned to the MPA or detailed to, in excess of 90 days (excluding members on non-contact and/or limited duty status), that is in good standing is eligible to be nominated to the position of Chief Steward (By Laws of the FOP MP Labor Comm., Art. 5.2, 5.4)
